Somatic Focused Psychotherapy
Journeying inwards is both difficult and rewarding. Let me be your guide.
My counselling approach strives to create space for clients to connect with their own strength and expansive potential. Learning to sense our inner and outer world improves our navigation through it, and I love to see my clients’ capacity expand beyond what they thought was possible. As a Somatic focused practitioner, I centre the body in the therapeutic process and often use movement or expressive arts as a way to dialogue with oneself. My hope is for clients to gain more awareness of themselves and connection to the unconscious so that they may move through life with dignity and authenticity. I am inspired by orientations that hold reverence for the complexity of the human experience, such as the Gestalt, Jungian and Existential traditions. With a background in trauma responsive movement and health coaching, I acknowledge the ways in which both our immediate circumstances and our culture at large can impact us and aim to attend to this in a way that is tangible and holistic.
About Me
I am an active and vigourous participant in life. I love to move, dance, play, cook, eat, read, write, watch, and learn.
Born and raised in east end Toronto, I moved to Vancouver 6 years ago. Acapulco, Mexico is my second home where my partner is from and I feel fortunate to spend time there each year. I am a passionate swimmer and surfer and am happiest in the water. I love animals, especially dogs and horses.
I was raised with a deep appreciation for the arts, in the vibrant city that is Toronto. Engaging with literature, film and art keeps me going. I am dedicated to my own therapeutic practices; personal therapy, somatics and active imagination, and consider these crucial to my effectiveness as a counsellor.
I am an ardent learner and aim to meet the world with humility. I will always do my best to understand how my experience in the world differs from yours.
I currently reside and work on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. I am commited to exploring how colonialism shows up in my work as a counsellor and in the psyches of my clients.
